Do You Really Need A Website?

The Mobile iPhone Marketer Article 4
Do You Really Need A Website?

This article is about my experience when I was starting out. When I first started out studying about internet marketing, I signed up for all kinds of stuff that I got in my email. After all how was a person going to learn in the beginning. I seen ads for get your free web pages all ready made. Just place them on your site. Ok, I thought, that's cool, this will save me time! So now I had to learn about websites. I learned about different companies that sold a spot to start your website. So after several days to weeks I started understanding what a website was and how to use it. I picked AVAHost.net because they offered a big incentive package of software and ebooks, and the price was cheap. Then it took me several months to learn all the ins and outs of what you got when you get something like this. You learn about editing, customizing, what features are available. You learn about setting up email accounts, sending email, and databases. So after a while it took up a lot of time and study. Then I learned about uploads, downloads, and Wordpress. Now Wordpress takes a lot of work and makes it easier to make or add changes. It was far easier and faster to do things with Wordpress. So I bought some pre-made sites and learned how to put them on my site, which was cool! But then it got to the point that I wanted more customization, more features.

So I started learning about plugins and how they can add more features. After several months to a year I had a blog site, some pre made products and tried to get traffic. After a while my site got bigger and bigger. Then it started crashing because a plugin didn't work correctly or conflicted with another. I spent more time and money trying to fix the monster it had become. So after 2 years of fixing, updating and more money, trying to get something to sell, I decided to shut down the whole thing and quit my 2 websites. I decided to take some months away from the mess to think of which direction to go.

Now don't think that this was a bad idea, it wasn't and I learned a lot! It just I was more busy learning than selling that I got burned out. So I needed to take a break and this helped a lot. The other thing was it was eating into my budget! So after a while, I started thinking on `How can I do this cheaper and better?`. All during this time I was using Google and their tools. I learned they had a website service called Blogger. Now it wasn't like my full blown Wordpress with monthly fees. It was free! So I learned what was involved with building a website with Google! It was far simpler and easier to write a page and posts! It got to the point I started enjoying writing articles! Now before I didn't like doing this because I was so busy with the old website problems! So now I have a free website that has 5 sections of interrelated topics that specialize in sub-topics. This is strictly a information based site with no sales pages. So I can now keep things simple and separated, and it is far simpler and cheaper for me to run and it works! It you are reading this now, you are on my site. Look thru it and see how it is setup. Maybe it is the perfect way to get going for a beginner! And guess what, I can do all this on my iPhone anywhere and anytime. The basic theme of my blog! Thanks for visiting.

By the way, I do still want to do sales products, and I have a great way to do this in my next article! See you then! Barry

It also involves using other systems so for now you just have to wait for the results. Also since it is offered by another marketer, I can't give you any details. It is very similar to some other types of marketing so for now I'll discuss others that are similar. So stay tune for any news later.

How is the Internet used?

The Mobile iPhone Marketer Article 2

How is the Internet used?

First in order to use the iPhone as a tool to do Internet marketing, first we need to start out on what is the Internet and how do we use it. Since this subject falls under a complete beginner category, I may use the information to build a down to earth course for a beginner.

So what I want to do is get your feedback on the questions I ask about. So as I ask, I would like to get a feeling on what people think about or know when they are ask these questions.

First in order to market on the Internet there has to be a need or a problem that people are looking for. People use the Internet as a source of information. When people go on the Internet, it is that they are looking for something. For example: how to stop my dog from tearing up a newspaper? What is the best way to cook a steak properly? So my first question to you is what are things that a person looks for or on the Internet? What do you do or how do you use the Internet in your every day lives? Is it a solution to your problem?

In order to get your feedback please leave me a comment. Look forward to hearing on what you think!

Why iPhone?

Why iPhone?
The Mobile iPhone Marketer Article 1

I forgot to mention the iPhone in the title! It all started when after many years of not having an cellphone, I decided to get an iPhone. Believe  me, I did a lot of research on cell phones, the features, operation, history of the companies and operation of the phones. At first I said I didn't want to spend the money and costs every month required for a cell phone, let alone an  iPhone.

I used to say  "Why does everybody carry that phone and use it all the time, everywhere they go?". Well being in the electronic industry for 30 years, it was like a hobby to me. I a geeky type of person, always looking at new technology, programming, and building. I knew in my eyes, when somebody said "Apple", what came into my mind was "Expensive!". So I was always a Windows "Whatever" type of person. Maybe it was because I started into computer during the "CP/M" days. Now if you don't know about CP/M, look it up on Wikipedia. It a very interesting  aspect into the beginning of the  computer revolution. The programming language that came out at that time was called "Basic". I'll get into that subject on my other site at themobileiponegamer.blogspot.com. Well anyway, at that time there were 2 companies that were started, Microsoft and Apple. At that time it was cheaper to go to the Microsoft Basic programming with CP/M than Apple. So I went in that direction. And as it turned out the Apple Mac came out and it was expensive! So I stayed away from Apple all these years.

When Apple came out with their computers and laptops, too expensive. Well one area I got into was studying Linux. Now Linux is a great op-system because it was based on Unix. Unix became the grand daddy for all research and corporate mainframes. But Linux was open sourced, meaning free with conditions. So I played with Linux a lot and liked it. Well Apple used their IOS op-system, which is a version of Unix. You can read all about this on Wiki, interesting stuff and history. Well Apple's Lion op-system on their computers is also based on Unix. So this got me into researching into iPhones.

I found out that the iPhone is also based on IOS! Now this is where it gets interesting. I learned how the iPhone incorporated ideas that we not menu based like other cell phones. Ideas like icons, pinch and pull, etc.that was done on screen! Look up Steve Jobs presentations on the Apple site about these features! Well anyway, during all these years, I've always dreamed of a compute in your pocket and this is how technology is going today. For me, how about a computer in your pocket with internet access from anywhere in the world.. iPhone! Apple iPhone does this with a duel processor, touch screen, gobs of memory, a hard drive and internet! My small computer in my pocket!

Now I got this during my research into internet marketing. I started using the iPhone to read and search for information on internet. I used it for my email, looking at videos, looking at products, etc. I started seeing apps that were useful in my work on my blogs, such as this one. I started becoming a mobile geek, oh my! I can do my work with my phone on my phone, anytime, anywhere! I found the marketing products I used on the internet can be used on the iPhone! I found a word processor (Pages) , spreadsheet (Numbers), presentation (keynote) and photo (iPhoto) apps I can use on my phone and work. I learned about the CLOUD, DA, DAA, DAAA, for mobile storage and interfacing to my laptop. Oh oh, I need another blog site! (write that down). So that is the reason for this blog. Using the little mobile computer in my pocket for my internet marketing duties!

Let me tell you it does help to have reading glasses! This will do until I can afford an iPad!

Drop me a line and tell me what you think!

Hello and Welcome!

Hello and Welcome!

Let me introduce myself, my name is Barry Selk. I started getting into internet marketing a little over 2 years ago. During that time (1 - 2 years!)  I did tons of research into a lot of aspects of internet marketing. Now I don't consider myself an expert by any means. but I have a pretty good knowledge of what types of things are out there for any beginner. So what I hope to do is point you in various directions and show you what I have found out that is available for a beginner so you don't have to go thru what I did starting out.

I'll tell you right now it is hard to make money on the internet and it takes a lot of work and knowledge. Sure everybody starting out gets bombarded with emails on how easy it is to make money. Now if you get the background and the skills with determination, you may succeed. I always say and learned you may not make any money at all because there is so much to know. And you do have to spend money to earn money.  Any you will have to do a lot of studying to learn this stuff. Well maybe not that much since I helping you along!

I can't guarantee that you will be successful as a marketer because it all depends on the person. Also I may during the discussions,  point you to somebody else's product that I use to help me with my chores. This may be a product that makes my life a little easier so I let you in on my recommendations on why I picked this product. It is up to you to decide if this sounds good enough to buy so I'll leave that up to you.  But I now know what is available that may help you in your journey into becoming a internet marketer!
